IRMET has been working in an independent capacity for the last sixteen years to supplement the efforts of the state education system. While the children remain enrolled in state schools they are encouraged to spend their time outside school, hours at the Center run by the Trust, away from the vagaries of the street.
To enable children from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds to live fuller lives and to reach their potential to a far greater degree than available social and family structures allow. The area of intervention is limited to children in the western part of New Delhi, a city with a population of approximately 12 million people.
